Why change the name of Jalan Alor?

There are certain things we just don’t do. Like changing the name of a street that’s already well-known in the world and a must-visit destination for tourists. Jalan Alor, famous for the wide variety of tasty and reasonably priced food up and down both sides of the street, was such a street that was unnecessarily renamed Jalan Kejora by DBKL recently. Many people are not happy with the change and they are speaking up against it.

Here’s one of the sms(es) I have received earlier this evening that reflects exactly the current mood of the majority of the rakyat …

“Change; When you want to change something, it must be for a reason. The obvious reason is for betterment. What is the reason for changing Jalan Alor’s name? Will the change bring betterments like prosperity to the traders and peace to the residence? Please discipline those people linked with the change as they must be doing things out of their whim and fancy.” – Davy

Kenapa tukarkan nama Jalan Alor?

  1. It shows that DBKL and Malaysian planners are the ones killing off this country. When these people talk about BRANDING they speak without understanding. People spend millions trying to create a brand. Jalan Alor is named in hundreds of travel books and hundreds of travel blogs on Malaysia.

Next time (God forbid that there should be) the people at DBKL or any Malaysian local council, plans to change a street name or town name (like the fiasco on Batang Berjuntai) Google the current name first instead of letting their own twisted minds think of all sorts of nonsense.

  2. Dear DBKL and in fact all other local councils,

If you have nothing better to do, you can always go patch up the potholes or make road resurfaces that last much longer than 1 year without self-destructing, or trim branches blocking traffic signs, thank you.

  3. iDatuk Bandar is so free that he had to do such stupid thing – to change the name of streets in KL. I think that he should start o change his own name first before he starts to change the streets of KL.

Datuk Bandar is just too useless. He should be sacked for doing stupid thing. He is just a non performer.

  4. People, do you all not see the rationale of the name change?

Question is asked is it for the betterment. I would say,’Yes”! ….betterment for somebody’s pocket.

Name change means the need to change road signs. An ingenoius way to earn some pocket money.

Is there no hope at all for this country?

  5. Who is the MP for that area? He should be the one campaigning on this issue then…. while the rest of the MP’s should worry about the problems in their area they are in….just my 2 cents.

  6. DBKL should look into the cleanlyness of the back-lane of Jalan Alor. Changing road names only benefit the signage Co’s.

  7. YB Wee just carry on doing your work. You have done a good job as MP. As MP you should look after the nation interest. Please keep up the good work.

Be brave all the times and speak up for us. Thank you.

  8. will the DBKL or gomen entertain our complaints???or it will be another empty hope which the ppl in positions won;t even entertain?

  9. Just because DBKL said they had planned the name change “3 years ago” does not justify for their stupidity.

The trouble with our administration is that we have plenty of dunggus in office. Pakatan Rakyat should get into power as soon as possible and clean out the hapraks.

The longer we have these idiots in positions of power the faster this country will be doomed!

Jalan Kejora pulak. Jalan Kepala Otak engkau lah DBKL! Bodoh!

  10. To commenter no. 7 Terry …

Any MP can address any issue wherever it may happen (even any place on planet earth) when it affects the country and the people.

    They are ‘not territorially confined’.

State ADUNS are different – they are confined to their areas where they are elected.

So, Terry, keep your 2 cents to yourself. That’s what you are worth – STUPID.

  11. Jalan Kejora, what a joke! Why not change Datuk Bandar name to Hakim Kejora instead. It also sounded very nice.

DBKl has nothing better to do. That’s why there are so many unsolved problems in KL.

There are never a dull moment for the 10 PR MPs. The Datuk Bandar and DBKL will create problems for themselves so that the 10 MPs can hantum them kuat kuat.

How stupid is the Datuk Bandar?

  12. to DBKL,i hope u will read this blog, cuz i wanna say here that u are the stupidest being in this whole earth, and believe me man,i never tell lies, when i say that u are stupid,u are really stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!i don even understand why DBKL even exist now,to do all the stupid thing and become a jokers to all other nation, move to mars u idiots from DBKL,earth is too dangerous for u!!

  14. Since this project is quite big involving more than Jalan Alor, what’s the catch? As a law abiding tax payer I insist to know:

    -who is the signboard supplier(s)?
-what’s the total expense? In view of public interests, DBKL must provide itemized breakdown of this project, and the payees of the project.

Please note that Bukit Bintang, a name being astrology-linked will have roads renamed to Jalan Marikh, Jalan Bulan, Jalan Utarid, Jalan Neptun and so on if the plan goes through.

DBKL is right on the number of name changes, look at the famous roads changed so far:

  15. To comment no 14 one eye Jack…
it is people like u that stir so much shit in this world.Everyone is entitled to their opinions. So im no politician nor do i understand all the different levels of authority these MP’s/Aduns have…so it was my mistake to mix their authorities up…but to come back with a statement like this is just so low.

I guess it reflects on how you were brought up…my mistake..dragged up!

  16. DBKL should put more effort on the rakyat problem ,i put one simple example as the jalan Genting Gelang started from the junction of Kolej Tunku Abdul Raham, whereby the road face to the MRR2 are uneven and much potholes because the construction progress of the digging of utility services perhaps is sewerage or cable. After completed the work their are paved the road un-quality with unlevel and dangerous to the road users.
so……do u(DBKL) think is the rational that DBKL busy regarded changing of the JALAN ALOR???

P/S: name kau baloh tukar suka-suka?

  17. DBKL and KL Mayor both stupid got nothing to do..They want more publicity so they do stupid thing god pls help malaysia we have the most stupid enforcer and mayor in town pls help we need help as those in Gaza pls help us.
