AirAsia & AirAsia X have not handed over unclaimed airport taxes to MAHB

There was a campaign by AirAsia against the increase of airport tax, which is a revenue to the Government to maintain and upgrade our airports.

All airport authorities through out the world have imposed airport tax. AirAsia (AA) was the only airline with the ability to owe airport tax and other charges to the tune of over RM132 million. When yours truly brought up the issue in Parliament a few years ago, AA finally settled it with a discount of RM25 million as “incentive” by the then Minister of Transport, in HERE.

Tuan Azahari Dahlan, the ex-AirAsia Regional Head of Engineering, and appointed the CEO of MAS Aerospace Engineering (MAE) after the infamous aborted MAS-AirAsia share swap, is said to be the most qualified person in term of “seniority and qualifications” in MAE to hold the post of CEO. Unfortunately, up to this date this Tuan Azahari Dahlan is still keeping very quiet about the possibility of MAE entering into another joint venture with SR Technics or other entities. Rumour has it that he manages MAS Engineering like a well maintained engine and has also gained lots of respect within MAS Engineering for his great leadership. The pertinent question is, had MAS Engineering, under this highly qualified Tuan Azahari Dahlan, learn the lesson from all its failed joint ventures over the last two decades?
