Tuan Wee Choo Keong [Wangsa Maju] ask the Minister of Communication and Culture to state that in the light of Astro is a subsidiary company of a foreign company and was making a net profit of RM689 million for 2010 from its 2.911 million subscribers (1.7 million of Malay, 670,000 of Chinese, 319,000 of Indian and for 222,000 of others), is the Ministry intend to control and reduce the exorbitant monthly subscription fees in particular Astro pass new regulations to stop the monopoly of the popular programes like National Geography, ESPN, Discovery, BBC, CNN and others by Astro so that the such programes be opened to other Paid TV provider to encourage competition?

Regarding Astro, it is also very devious and greedy of them to slot in NUMEROUS ADVERTISEMENTS when in reality, cable tv should have NONE! Its extremely irritating and they chop up the series/docus…and also the movies are from the Stone Ages and repetitive…the ads really get to me and I want to throw the remote at the TV or at the joker who owns AstroCheat.
Syabas YB.
Semua soalan adalah bernas sekali, terutamanya mengenai monopoli Astro, pengunaan pas sosial warga Singapura, masaalah jenayah, salah cetak wang tapi tidak tuntut ganti-rugi, dan lain-lain.
Harap YB dapat tolong tanyakan Puspakom/Kem. Pengangkutan:
2010 = RM50
2011 = RM50
Funsi yang di periksa :
1. Bahagian Atas. Bingkai pintu kereta depan & belakang. (Tanggal getah bingkai pintu untuk memastikan bumbung tiada kesan welding.)
2. Brake
3. Gelincir sisi
4. Suspensi
5. Bahagian bawah
Soalannya: Mengapakan yuran pemeriksaan dinaikkan begitu tinggi sekali?
Terima Kasih
Good questions especially on Astro. It is exploiting Malaysians especially the Malays. The Hasbie Satar is also a good one. Nor Yacob is not a saint. check on him.
YB MINTA TANYA DATO BANDAR BILA AGAKNYA JALAN GENTING KELANG AKAN BEBAS DARI KESESAKAN JALANRAYA TERUTAMA WAKTU PUNCAK.

It is scandalous for Bank Negara Malaysia to have kept the losses on the mistakes of printing Malaysian currency. Why was Bank Negara keeping silence on such matter. Who is the agent for the printing of currently? Is the agent connected to top Bank Negara official? This is the BIG question mark.
YB pls probe into this and other projects by Bank Negara.
Astro is another issue which the government must control in term of subscription and contents. As Tehsin correctly put it, Astro is a Paid TV station their programes should contain advertisement. It is a rip off. It is a monopoly. Monopoly is never good for the nation.
Monopoly in any form or shape must be stopped as it is against public interest. Astro is the classic example. It is controlling all the popular channels like ESPN, National Geography, Discovery and etc. Like in UK, it has Monopoly Commission which will oversee any company controlling the market.
The government must act against Astro in the public interest. If we have more paid tv providers I am sure that the subscriptions will be lower due to competition. ASTRO net profits for 2010 was RM690 million speaks for itself. Even bank cannot make such net profit yearly. So the government must wake up, especially Minister of Communication, Datuk Rias Yatim. Please stop thinking about netbooks and Astro is allowed to run amok!
Nice Question Sir..
There are the people questions. Thank you for asking those questions for us. We, as parents, are curious to know what are the passing marks for all the subjects where 38,000 students got “A”s. This was most scandalous.
I knew of travel agent closing shop after receiving payments from public during Matta Fair. Why is Matta having travel fair two three times a year? It seems that MAtta is making big profits from the selling of the booths during the travel fair.
It seemed that many people got con from the travel fair and Matta took no responsibility. It is nice that MP is taking up this issue in Parliament.
We are all waiting for the Sime Darby report on the financial scandals to be made public. Any bullshit by the government.
Most pasar malam fully support by people because
– it offers cheap ( food and other goods ) price
– it can reduce crime consider turning some dark street
to light street in ” kawasan rumah kediaman ”
Most pasar malam we attend are either 1 night per week
or some is from Friday-Sunday every week from 6pm to 2am .
Most of this area no Mat-Rempit as there is some police-related people there .
But looks like what happen in ( Pasar larut Malam di Danau Kota ) is difference thing a) Time : yang beropersasi tiap malam dari pukul 10 malam sehingga pukul 4 pagi.
b) Every night ???? We dont think there will be Mat-Rempit
if there is police there .
Security is really a problem to all Malaysians. In Malaysia the police/citizen ratio is about 1:500. How lah to expect the police to control crime. The time has come for the Home Minister to increase more officer to at least 1 police to 1000 citizen. Even this will not be the ideal situation.
Astro a foreign owned company can not be allowed to monopolise the Paid TV. Even local provider cannot be allowed to monopolise the market. It is most unhealthy. Good questions.
ASTRO is a foreign owned company and monopolize malaysian airwaves.
Why is malaysia still having a law restricting satelite dish size (which was enacted to accomodate ASTRO monopoly more tahn 15 years ago). ?
Please repeal eliminate this unfair law.
Because of this Malaysian are deprived of “Free- to-Viewer” satelite TV.
There is no monthly charges and this translate to money in the pocket for malaysians as well as competition for ASTRO in a real market environment.
Many countries allow satelit TV; example Thailand, Indonesia, Phillipine, Morocco etc
The governor of Bank Negara should answer this question and not the Minister of Finance. It will be interesting to hear her reply. Who is the agent of Bank Negara for printing of our currencies and other Bank Negara projects?
The idea to increase the police/citizen ratio of 1 police officer to 400 citizen is good intention , but we rated as bad idea ( for this year , not future )
a) From March 1, motorists can forget about delaying payment of traffic summonses in the hope of massive discounts during campaigns organised by the police or other authorities.
The Cabinet has agreed to restructure the system for paying traffic summonses based on the principle that
In 2008 in Tanzania, about 20 female school pupils began to faint in a schoolroom, collapsing to the floor and losing consciousness, while others after witnessing this sobbed, yelled and ran around the school.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_hysteria
But link to ” Mass hysteria hits Malaysian school ” is outdated because the news dated 16th July 2001 .
We also cannot get more advance news from Yahoo .
But below is from last year or last a few year ( not sure )
THIRTEEN female students went into hysteria during classes at a religious school in Sungai Besar on Thursday, reported Sinar Harian . This was the second such incident in the school after several Form Two female students suffered similar symptoms while studying in another building the previous day.
According to a source, all victims were later told to gather and recite the Yasin prayers with some villagers in order to calm them down.
Between March 10 and July 10 last year, Bank Negara had raised the overnight policy rate by 25 + 50 ( secretly ) basis points to 2.75% .
We take example how could as today PBB FDeposit 12 Month 2.85% ( gap is 3.45% , wow ) PBB Base Lending Rate as at 18/02/11 is 6.3% ( increased from 5.55% on March 2009 ) .
We dont have FD rates on March 2009 , so the nearest is by compared on Feb 3 ,2009 ( gap is 2.95% ) when FDeposit 12 month 3% while BLR is 5.95% .
In this case , if compare above with other guy who say
” It is scandalous for Bank Negara Malaysia to have kept the losses on the mistakes of printing Malaysian currency. ” ,
much like Bank Negara is becoming more and more useless .
When local ( every or some ? ) bank change procedure from sending customer – loan statement twice per year to only one per year , begins 2011 we already know there is secret agenda .
Economists who want rates to go up are concerned that continued low interest rates would fuel asset price inflation.

Why interest rates should not be raised ….
http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/2/19/business/8094900&sec=business
………… When prices go up, pass it on to the customer even before it actually does. When prices of inputs go down, delay the price decrease as long as possible.
( Our comment : This is not the worst , when prices up again , they ( forget not yet down ) up again ) . And when price down , forget the story – they actually has already double the up .
Consider sudah banyak up and down , they actually sudah up 10 kali – down 0 kali .
Same as interest rate , want to up BLR but FD rates remain same although already fall to pariah standard 3% )

Prices of property in the hot areas of the Klang Valley ( Msia ada cold / winter area ?? ) rose between 30% and 40% last year, tak tahu how our economist said inflasi only 3 to 4% , must be buang all the ” 0 ” to tong sampah .
But the pisang they makan , they didnt buang to tong sampah ????
http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/2/19/business/8096503&sec=business
So what 4 billion or less profit but still billion profit bank done ? , still the same BLR for those loan
below RM 300,000 . What the state government done ? , still the same assessment rate for those
property below RM 300,000 . Cuma tahu nak menang election only .
As banks’ interest margins come under pressure this year ( macam ini pun panggil under pressure ? )
then we need a new English term for our SUPER under pressure , which we thing very difficult to see by apa economist as today .
United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd head of transaction banking division Andre Lee agrees. He says migrant workers’ remittance business is a profitable business for banks, especially in Malaysia which is dependent on migrant workers for certain industries.
ha ha ( last year we have testing – make a phone call ,
quite surprise the UOB officer told us the minimum amount Basic Saving Accounts is RM 1,000 , not RM 20.00 ?? )
but when http://www1.uob.com.my/webpages/p_deposits_savings_passbook.htm .
said an initial minimum deposit of RM5,000 , must known they are what kind of bank ?

FOR many, there are a few necessities in life. The basics include food on the table, clothes on one’s back and a roof over one’s head . Wrong-lah , this not include outdated PC
and handphone ( hope they dont rosak ha ha see rabbit year how lucky ) , and as below :
http://star-motoring.com/News/2011/JPJ-to-open-counters-for-settling-police-summonses.aspx
(JPJ) is making it easy for traffic offenders to settle police summonses . So for today , we see another two-female-factory workers being stopped for no road tax ,
just say ” no good news ” . To pay or not to pay the summons , still have 3-4 months to decide
consider the long court list . But we have matematic formula , they normally will 80%-notpaid vs 20%-willpaid ,
consider tak tahu apa akan naik lagi , as not every low-income job are stable .
If the THE remittance business is enjoying good growth , so are they in this remittance company ?
Tak ada kerja – a few months , ada kerja a few months , then same story again .
Morning-evening police checking – catch banyak-banyak
Mat No Road tax , malam one also mostly in wrong area – catch no Mat Rempit . So Mat No Road Tax is not people already paying road tax problem ? Just hope Mat U-Turn not accidentally terlanggar them in One day

Dear YB,
5Pendek kata YB, saman bila perlu sahaja bukan membabi buta.
Dear YB
Please update us on the reply by the Minister or the relevant agency concerned on the Astro Monopoly. They may defend by saying Astro is not a monopoly as nowadays, we have Unifi. Unifi is totally a different technology as it is wire based (internet) whereas Astro is through Satellite signals. They are also monopolising all the good channels like BBC, Aljazeera, ESPN, Star Sports, All movie channels etc. All Unifi has are all lousy channels to date.
Due to this monopoly, astro is continuing to fleece its customers. As in my comment previously, great example for this daylight robbery is the recent offering of the current World Cup Cricket. They are charging an exorbitant fee of RM499 for one month live coverage (actually, it is not live as they delay the broadcast by 5 to 10 due to whatever requirement…this apply to all the live sport events). The fee is really sky high! For the same event, Singappore TV only charges around SGD19!
How ridiculous Astro can be? Pls stop this Astro Monster from further fleecing innocent Malaysians!
