  1. Thank you for being the people’s voice against the many ills of AirAsia and others ! Do continue to dig into their “strongroom” to unearth more treasures.

No wonder when EPF was enjoying one of their good day for 2007-2008, the final payout was mere 4.5%. They may be able to cover some track with creative accounting BUT ultimately, the truth will surface with more people coming to their senses and offering information.

  2. It was an indirect bailout.

In 2007 the big foreign shareholder pull out of Air Asia and sold their shares and I believe that after this event that EPF started to buy Air Asia shares in the big way.

There are much better value shares than Air Asia shares in the Bursa KL and yet EPF under the control of the then Deputy Minister of Finance Tan Sri Nor Yakop saw it fit to choose Air Asia.

YB Wee was right that Tan Sri Nor Yakop is a close friend of Tony Fernandes, the CEO of Air Asia.

I am shocked that EPF holds 216,861,900 shares in Air Asia. I am sure that EPF bought the Air Asia at the average price above RM1.30 per shares. I am sure that if EPF were to dispose of it now it would have lost many million Ringgit.

YB Wee should ask the Minister of Finance to explain on what basis EPF bought 216 millions of Air Asia shares when it was an open secret that Air Asia was unable to pay the airport tax to MAHB.

What a bull shit after all!

  3. Surprised! Surprised! Surprised! EPF is the 9.13% shareholder of Air Asia. It would appear that the officers in the charge of investment must be very stupid to invest in 216,861,900 shares in Air Asia, a company with little background or unimpressive background.

It must have caused EPF more than RM216 million to buy the 216,861,900 unit of shares in Air Asia. Now they are worth very much less than RM216 million. The EPF officers concerned should be sacked for buying the 216,861,900 shares unless they can show evidence that they were instructed by the power that be to buy the Air Asia shares.

Another Con Job at the expense of the workers. The PM should investigate into the purchase of Air Asia shares by EPF.

  5. I am very sad to know that EPF had bought 216 million shares in Air Asia, a company with very poor record. For a start, it can not even pay the airport tax worth RM65 million which it has already collected from the public. If one cannot pay the airport tax that one has collected then this speaks volume for the state of financial health of the company.

EPF is just too stupid to invest in Air Asia when there are so many other counters to invest in. Of course, EPF must help Pak Lah crony!

The government should investigate into why EPF invested so much monies in Air Asia when every one knows that Air Asia is not at all healthy financially.

The government should also investigate whether EPF bought a big chunk of Air Asia shares when its big foreign shareholders sold their shares.

Something is very wrong some where. Just investigate and charge Pak Lah cronies for allowing EPF to invest in Air Asia. This deals smell like shit!!!

  6. I just cannot believe that EPF could do such a stupid thing by investing in 216 million of Air Asia shares. I am certain that the 216 million shares would have cost EPF more than RM300 million of the workers retirement fund.

Everybody now know that Air Asia is an ailing company, which cannot even afford to pay the airport tax (RM69 millions) it had already collected form the members of the public.

How stupid the EPF officers were! No, they are not stupid. Most probably they are receiving instructions from the power that be to buy the Air Asia shares as an indirect bailout.

They are good with this. While we are happy with airasia’s low fares, democratising the public to fly but soal bail out kroni mesti dihapuskan. Katakan tidak pada tony d crony!

  8. There are so many good stocks in the market, why must EPF chose Air Asia, an sick company. As rightly put by other readers that Air Asia is very “sick financially” that it cannot even pay the RM65 million airport tax it has collected.

EPF is equally sick to have invested in the 216 million Air Asia shares. A clear case of abused of public fund by EPF!

I fully agree that there must be a thorough investigations into the ways in which EPF has invested in public listed companies. I am sure that these Air Asia is not the only case.

EPF should now get rid of Air Asia shares and buy into financially healthy companies.

  9. EPF officers are not stupid. They just take instructions blindly. Nevertheless, they should be disciplined and sacked for making such a stupid investment in Air Asia. We all know what Air Asia is all about. Air Asia needs political protections at all time. Now without Pak Lah and the 4th floor and coupled with economic slowdown, I think Air Asia will be in trouble.

Lets see how many more Air Buses Air Asia could take.

  10. EPF officers just take instructions. They have no brain to think for the workers. There are just gaji buta. No one in the right mind would have invested 216 millions shares in Air Asia. It is wasting the workers monies to help an ailing company.

No corporate investors would have invested into Air Asia. Even the Mat Salleh companies divested from Air Asia and the stupid EPF jumped on to the band wagon to buy Air Asia shares to help.

Tan Sri Nor Yakop is keeping very quiet when it involves Air Asia. WHY???

  11. Hmmmm,
    9% = 216.8 millions shares , if at RM 1.00 per shares = RM 216.8 RMiilions

    100% = 2.408 billions shares = RM 2.408 billions.

Can somebody tell me how can a budget airlines that charge RM 1.00 for their fares eventhough their load factor averaging only 60 % can raise so much money, not to forget, it was RM1.60 when it was first listed ???

Money laundry , anyone… let “Toni Dobhy” do the cleaning for you !!!

    Terima Kasih

    wee choo keong
