Timbalan Menteri Pengangkutan: "AirAsia tidak pernah diberikan hak keistimewaan berhutang cukai lapangan terbang (airport tax)!"

01 Disember 2009

YB Tuan Wee Choo Keong [WANGSA MAJU] asks the Minister of Transport to state why AirAsia had been given a special privilege to owe airport tax amounting to RM65 million (as at 28-02-2009) when other airlines were not accorded a similar privilege; and what actions have MAHB taken against AirAsia for the airport tax debt and what is the total current airport tax owed by AIRASIA to-date?

Jawapan:

Tuan Yang Di Pertua,

Soalan Tambahan:

Terima kasih Tan Sri Yang

  1. owed airport tax since its incorporation in 2002 until now and MAHB awarded AirAsia with incentive of RM25 million.

We all should also owe our income tax, service tax and other taxes and the government should also give us discount as an incentive. What a big joke. It is unheard of in the world. No other airline in the world is allowed to owe airport tax for 7 years and thereafter given incentive.

  3. Why are AirAsia ans AirAsia-X are so special that they were given special incentive worth RM25 million and the incentive was deducted from the airport tax. Big Joke!

What have AIrAsia done that no other airlines have done. What AirAsia have done no other airlines could have done i.e. owing airport tax to the tune of RM132 million from the date of incorporation in 2002 until 2009. Tell me which other airlines could owe airport tax for 7 years and then be rewarded with incentive worth RM25 million. Even our national carrier (MAS) could not owe airport tax.

Tony Fernadez should be conferred with the title of Tan Sri for his achievement in getting the BN government bowed to AirAsia! This was also the “4th Floor” achievement!

  4. with the massive expansion, AirAsia will not last long. The government must control the expansion properly before it collapse. Then public fund had to be used to bailout.
