This is exceedingly good news. I hope the next one to be released will be Raja Petra Kamarudin followed by the rest of the ISA detainees. Let’s abolish the ISA for its draconian nature which is detention without trial. We have enough laws to prosecute anyone for whatever crimes committed.
Syabas to the present administration for doing what is right.
The Internal Security Act (ISA) is an outdated piece of legislation. It was originally put into force to curb communist insurgency to preserve the internal security of the nation. Its draconian nature allows the executive government to detain individuals without trial.
This is very good news. Syabas to the administration. Now can we also have Raja Petra Kamarudin, Sheih of kickdefella and the rest of the ISA detainees released?

Here are some of the pictures of the solidarity vigil that was held at Blog House in Bukit Damansara, 14 September 2008. Our thoughts were not only with Raja Petra and Teresa Kok but also the Hindraf 5 and all other ISA detainees. We appeal to the good sense of the Badawi administration to abolish the ISA Act and free all victims who had been incarcerated without trial.

At last YB Zaid Ibrahim has decided to join the rank and file of brave people by resigning from Badwai’s cabinet. It has been quite sometime that Zaid Ibrahim’s position was untenable in the Cabinet because he was unable to deliver or implement judicial reforms as announced in the press.
UPDATE, 13-9-2008: Malaysiakini reports that “Journalist Tan Hoon Cheng was released this afternoon and is now back at her house in Bukit Mertajam, Penang.”

At about 1.00 p.m. today, Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) was arrested and detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA). If RPK has committed an offence then the Government should charge him in Court. DETENTION OF ANY CITIZEN UNDER ANY PREVENTIVE LAW WITHOUT A FAIR TRIAL CAN NEVER BE JUSTIFIED IN A DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY! All Malaysians should hang our heads low in shame for allowing such a draconian act against a citizen to happen in the 21st Century.
