Abdullah Badawi had made it clear that he will be stepping down as Prime Minister in March 2009. He had also promised that he will be initiating some reforms that were sought after by the rakyat before he leaves office.

Yet another Bill tabled, Parliament used as "rubberstamp"
This morning the government saw it fit to table a new Bill known as “Ruang Undang-undang Perlindungan Saksi 2008” (Witness Protection Bill 2008). I don’t understand why there is such a rush to table such an important Bill without giving MPs sufficient time to prepare for the debate.
Do we need a code of ethics for judges?
The government just tabled this morning:

Judicial Appointments Commission Bill will be unconstitutional, if passed by Parliament
I am glad that there is at least one other fraternity in the legislative circle that feels the same way as I do with regard to the proposed Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) Bill.
The Sabah JPs (Justices of the Peace) had recently come out into the open and also declared that the JAC is “unconstitutional” as it conflicts with Article 122 B and 161 E (2)(b) of the Federal Constitution, as reported here.
