Budget Debate 2008 Full Speech, 30 October 2008

Tuan Wee Choo Keong [Wangsa Maju]: Terima kasih Tuan Yang di-Pertua.

Is outcome of Munawar’s appeal indicative of what we can expect from Zaki Azmi…new Boss of the Malaysian Judiciary
Chief Justice Zaki Azmi beginning to throw his true colours…

Will he be able to be INDEPENDENT of UMNO and his past friends, and be able to be concerned only with justice…

Will he be a progressive judge only concerned with JUSTICE – not fearful of developing the law so that justice be done…or will he just remain a tool of UMNO and his ‘old friends’.

Also noted that Zaki Azmi was a businessman with involvement in a string of companies – and if so, he must recuse himself from any case involving those companies and/or related companies or even companies whereby his once fellow member of the Board of Directors or management is involved.

  2. YB, I like the “5 years is a lame duck and 5 months a dead duck” how to do any reform within the last 5 months. Good one!

I like the speech. Thank you for speaking up for us.

  4. YB Wee please don’t forget to press hard to get AirAsia to pay back the RM110 million to MAHB. This is our money and not Tony Fernades or Airasia.

Tony Fernades has the cheek to make a press statement that Airasia had settled the RM110 million with MAHB. I do know from the internal source of MAHB that it was not settled as claimed by Tony Fernades.

you all MPs must not allow Airasia to play around with the RM110 million airport taxes debts. This RM110 million debt plus the deferred taxes of RM540 million must be settled now. the country cannot afford settlement later with no date.

The RM110 million date since 2002. The deferred taxation of RM540 million is also quite sometimes. Airasia must be made to pay now otherwise MAHB should withhold airport facilities to Airasia.

If MAHB CEO dares not act the government should take disciplinary actions against the CEO for failing to to take action against Airasia for not paying the RM110 million.

Tony please put the monies where your month is. After all you have been saying that Airasia year in and year out making profits. So pay up your debts to all government agency including Petronas because you are not a GLC like MAS.
