UPDATE, 2.10am: Press Statement by Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim

BREAKING NEWS! – 1.26am

I have received information that the police could be arresting Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim tonight over another alleged sodomy case. Will it happen? Stay tuned for unfolding events.

— PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BY ANWAR IBRAHIM—
June 29, 2008, SHAH ALAM, MALAYSIA

The police report lodged against me earlier today is a complete fabrication. I believe we are witnessing a repeat of the methods used against me in 1998 when false allegations were made under duress. This is clearly a desperate attempt by the Barisan Nasional regime to arrest the movement of the Malaysian people towards freedom, democracy and justice.

The report has been organized by interested parties to attack me in retaliation for evidence I have recently obtained implicating IGP Musa Hassan and the AG Gani Patail in misconduct including fabrication of evidence in the cases launched against me in 1998-1999. This vile attack will not prevent me from releasing this dossier to the public.

I urge the Malaysian people to stand against the repressive forces that will be unleashed by the government in the coming days and weeks. We expect the media, the judiciary and the police force to all come under the direct and unchecked control of the executive.

My fellow Malaysians – we took a bold step forward on March 8th towards a new dawn for freedom and justice for all of our citizens. This people’s movement for change must go on with all of our strength and conviction.

ANWAR IBRAHIM

  1. Please let us know, where DSAI now!!!!
We will protect him till end.Yes we will..I’m about to gather more man power…They all gearing up for DSAI..No way they can drag him back to prison..This is mind blowing..What happening to Malaysia???How can they try this trick again to our hero..This is too much to even imagine..Please YB Wee, gather all MP’s from PR and stand by him all they way..Forget Parliment, forget everything..We stand by DSAI and divert that 1 Million to him..He’s more important than any Oil ,Bersih or ISA demo..

Fellow Malaysian, forget everything.all our chores and activities..We stand by him …We will and we will…Hidup DSAI..Jangan Gusar…Kita tak akan melihat DS ditarik masuk ke dalam land rover polis..

  2. BN is trying it again. BN just never learn. Let them try and they will soon know their fate.

We all know that BN is on the denial syndrome mode. BN stops trying at it again. Keep it up BN.

    I also stand by Anwar.

  3. They will go ahead and charge him, deny bail and the case will drag for a year.

Wee, ask Azizah to make the move to takeover the govt, and become PM! I don’t think PR has time until Sept. Expedite the takeover!

And rally your constituents in Wangsa Maju to back Anwar!

  4. What does one expect from a dirty government?……..dirty tactics, of course.

BN got to go …….and fast!

  5. Yes, Dirty BN government with dirty leaders! These dirty leaders and government must be got rid off for teh sake of nation! Enough of such nonsense.

  6. Din Merican writes:

This is the accuser, Saiful Bukhari (picture in red neckie). My colleagues and I knew that he was planted by the other side. So we kept him under surveillance since the day he turned up in our office just before the March 2008 elections. It was a matter of time and we would have exposed him as someone with links to the office of the Deputy Prime Minister. He knew that the noose was tightening around his neck.”

  7. he is not guilty until found guilty by the court of law…..why worried? the problem with all of you is, you “melatah” too early, please understand that “not guilty untill proven guilty…” the same goes to najib, rpk, rosmah, etc…ok. Fair n square……lets wait until we know the content of the police report by the jambu saiful bahari…

  8. The timing of this alleged incident does not make sense. Why would Anwar, on the brink of his alleged take over, would self destruct?

Anyway, I never believe him of sodomy in the first case anyway. The performance of G Patail and A Paul do not convince me that it was a water tight case. When a judge repeatedly mentioned, “it’s irrelevant” at least he should explain why. Unless the newspaper then left out his explanation, I am at a loss and can only have the impression that he is refusing solid counter arguments from the defense. (Christopher Fernando, may you RIP, respectfully)

12 years is a long time. The ACA either has impeccable timing on Yong Teck Lee’s case or hopelessly inefficient. My boss would hang my b@##s if I took 12 years to do what I am paid for monthly to do.

  9. anyway just to add on a bit (klang seafood made me think)

the chap gave a date 26th June when the event occurred. It would be straight forward for alibis to come out to confirm/disprove the allegation.

also, he is a strapping 23 years old guy. I assume he is a pious muslim and not gay. How in the world can he allow himself to be held down by a …60 years old man with a back problem?

things do not add up up… we have to take a look at his
    ( x ), whether it is ( 0 ) or ( . ) … otherwise, difficult to arrive at a conclusion.

    Gloves on, gentlemen.

  10. It was another BN propaganda to destroy DSAI political career and also to stop the tabling of the vote of no confidence. BN is bankrupt of political ideas.

Politicians fight with political knowledge and not by such dirty tactics to tarnish another person political future. If i am given a chance to vote again I will definitely vote for PR. BN – no even at all. They are all crooks.

  11. The CID Chief, Datuk Bakri, is behaving like a politician by calling for press conference on a Sunday. What an industry!!!

We do not need any comments with political slant from the CID chief. The job of the CID chief is to properly carry out its investigation into the case. We do not need police officers behaving like politicians.

We also hope that there were so many other reports lodged against other BN leaders and I hope that the CID chief will be as eager as he is in Anuar case to also call for press conference to explain.

The police officer should remember and appreciate that the rakyat are not as stupid as they thought we are. If we are stupid to day BN will still have the majority that they have enjoyed for the past 50 years.

So please be fear to the opposition, who be your boss one day.

  12. “If” he is really gay….he need not did it to the assistant… service is everywhere with right amount of money… THIS scam is old news….no one will believe it any more…

  13. PKR fears Anwar an assassination target
    Fauwaz Abdul Aziz | Jun 29, 08 3:13pm
PKR today said party de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has received threats to his life and is currently holed up at the Turkish embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Come on! If he dies….I am sure BN will crumble right away.

A clever “leader” should know…u best not create a hero…

  14. AYUH WANGSA MAJUIANS,

  15. Desperate BN taking desperate measures to save its leaders, who are bankrupt of political ideas except to use such dirty tactics.

It is just a repeat of the old broken records!

    Utusan Malaysia is indeed useful

  17. There’s a saying that goes….”once bitten. twice shy”. In this case, I began to wonder…maybe the 1st time around it’s a “dirty tactic” but twice? Sigh……

  18. MAT SIRAT,

apa yang anda buat ni? copy and paste semua orang punya comment?

  19. Guys, Let’s get Saiful Bukhairy Azlan’s fiancee and parents. That’s the best that we can do. Tit for tat. Go for it.

  20. Kayangsari,

not a good idea. the fiancee and parents are not involved. I am also uneasy with vigilante action on Saiful.
