
Updates @ 9:05 pm on 21-6-2012: Tan Sri Wan Azmi binWan Hamzah steps down from MAS Board during the AGM. The other aviation experts like Tan Sri Azman Yahya, Tan Sri Tan Boon Seng of IJM, Dato’ Rohanan binti Rozhan from ASTRO and David Lau Nai Pek are holding on to their directorship even though they could not show what were their contributions for the past TEN MONTHS. Tan Sri Wan Azmi;s said decision should be applauded and a very responsible acts.
One would have thought that Tan Sri Azman Yahya is a very busy man with so many companies to take care of especially SCOMI. The four chose to remain for reasons best known to themselves. Will do another posting soon about those remaining.
Updates @ 12:50 pm on 21-6-2012: The minority shareholders were questioning the competent and integrity of members of the Board of directors of MAS. They have also expressed their discontent with regards to their performance. From 10: 10 am this morning until now, the Board was still facing heavy criticisms from the shareholders. They could not even proceed to pass Resolution 1 to approve the Financial Statement let alone their Re-elections. The Board have been subjected to severe embarrassment. Yours truly has been informed that Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar’s most trusted crony, Rashdan, did not attend the AGM.
YB please check many tasks in MAS have been out sourced to several outfits in Symphony House. Symphony Share Registrar Sdn Bhd is just one of them.
Azman Yahya is another great guy in the corporate world. Another Oxbridge graduate like Rashdan, Omar and Azman Mokhtar.
Heard they were part of the Tingkat Empat? ka ka ka!
The share suap was also co-incidental! Bloody pariah and his kuncu2 who are still in MAS.

introduced omar ong in the picture. So it would appear
the whole exercise is to help fatten air asia and kill off
mas for good. Omar ong has always been a barua for n…/umno.
He is in petronas to look after n…’s interest.

This ongoing saga seems to link Bina Tak Fikir to Khazanah to MAS to AA to LSG Sky Chef to Brahim to Dolah Badawi to Scomi to CIMB to EY to Fourth Floor boys and back to Azman Mokhtar is making all thinking Malaysians very very upset.
The anger is mounting daily as the PM seems to dilly dally over what needed to be done. It is made worse as the people clearly know what is required to be done but the Government seems to be clueless at best, or unwilling to take action, at worst.
I only hope they would not punish the BN government at the coming poll.

I humbly suggest however that you will earn more fans if you can propose solutions to this long-running MAS problem. Fact is, MAS is operatig in a very difficult environment (even SQ making losses!), MAS cost structure bloated (by a 22k manpower?)’, cash bleeding, old aircraft, morale at all time low…
If everybody criticizes without offering realistic solutions (and high level rhetoric please, thats also unhelpful) our beloved MAS will continue spiraling towards doom. So without giving solutions, all your eefort in last 8-9 months would have only made MAS worse!

MAS is history, beyond salvage and everyone associated with it, either directly or indirectly, is responsible, yes, including the management, staffs and union. Bring in funds and the most suitable persons to run the company and it will continue to rot. The management can be changed easily but you can’t change the work culture. The majority wants to shake legs and earn big fat salary and they infact believe it is their birthright to be so. The best solution is to return MAS back to the federal government. Next best solution is shut the airline down for a day. Third best is shut it down completely and let Air Asia monopolies the sector. Why let it bleed the nation of its resources knowingly that no matter what course of actions be taken, MAS will continue to suffer major losses.

I think u must be one of AK staff or their PI?? Don’t talking non-sense la… Try to retrieve MH Audited Accounts before making blunt allegation!! Please study the Financial Statement/s!! MAS pernah making profit prior Tajudin Ramli. In fact, if you’re talking about operational wise(espc engineering dept & Firefly), numerous of MAS quarterly report shows that they are making profit only that they are making losses when adding up all non-sense management and so called con-sultancy fees etc. In terms of ratio liabilities against assets, MAS far better that Air Asia dude!! The only thing crucial in MAS is CASHFLOW!! If we sack the very top mgt who are doing nothing and terminate all the con-sultants, I’m sure MAS will doing much better!
I’m not AK staff, neither am I an AK shareholder but I am still an MAS shareholder. It is true MAS DID make money during Tan Sri Aziz’s tenure but aviation scene has changed, vastly. Super fast growing low cost carriers sprouting like mushrooms everywhere, brand new facilities, not to mention their own terminal and runway. Next comes 2015. So it amazes me how people still think it is a cash flow problem. I like how the 1.3b(?) loan was seen as sufficient to cover it’s operations til year end. We shall see who else take up the bond, that tells a lot. Infact I did not mention another problem which has been openly discussed- crony feeding. Can that be solved? Yes, GE 13. Til then, stop dreaming about turning MAS around. I suggest you look up on what former BA ceo say about change in culture in an airline. You are a MAS staff.

I’m not with AK, but I’m an MAS shareholder. I like your optimism. Look at the larger picture and see where does MAS fit in. I’m done with looking inside MAS for solutions, you’ll only find clues. The only thing people has been looking outside for is money. Easy come easy go. You have to be an MAS employee.

I am a former MH staff as well as a shareholder. I had the opportunity to deal with most levels of the workforce when i was there. There is no question that MH needs a change, but believe me, a general statement accusing staff of just wanting to shake leg and make big bucks could not be further from the truth. Granted that there are some in there you want to get rid of or basically whip into shape, largely they are honest hardworking people. The problem there is leadership. The people do not trust their leadership. There is a huge disconnect between those who are out there facing the public with those whose elbow and brain grease gets the operations moving. NOTHING is being done to address the fact that the people who are supposed to be directing the startegy of the company and harnessing the workforce toward improvement are failing miserably. The staff can only do so much.
I always thought that the management had been unfairly judged and abused (except danny of course), in cyberspace, but after now seeing with my own eyes how out of touch the so called leaders of mas are with what is really going on, i myself question the ability of the company to get out of the red.
BUT, be fair. Do not blame 20k people for the mistakes, ignorance or denial of 20 people. They have proven time and again that they are capable of making MAS a great company.
A captain should know the path they want to fly to and the crew follow his orders accordingly. But if the captain is clueless and do not know the weather patterns, turbulence areas, fuel burn rate of the aircraft and so on, you can’t blame all the crew for the failure if the plane doesnt arrive at its destination.
Yesterday the captain didnt convince me that he was on the ball..or even in control of the plane.
Easy to blame the captain of the boat. Did his lieutenants tell him when the boat was heading for disaster? Or perhaps everyone huddled together and pray for miracle? Perhaps they have all put on their life vest. But in the case of mas, the captain has to be incompetent. Gomen will not allow a good captain and everyone knows why. Idris jala left behind a half rotten PMS system which encourages staffs to be PMS oriented putting their primary functions and duties aside. Bodek culture and politicking became rampant. Good staffs who do their job do not get good PMS ratings as they are deemed as threats. With my extensive connections and knowledge on MAS and Airasia operations, I assure you that a person’s job in Airasia is shared by atleast 3 in MAS, especially those jobs behind the scene. MAS’s managers attend too many loooooonggg meetings, that’s where gotong
It will be a nightmare if Omar Ong comes on board replacing Azman Yahya. Who does he think he is. so powerful and can sit on several boards?
